Winter Camping 2025

Winter Camping 2025

We’re headed off to wonderful Camp Teetonkah (just the other side of Jackson) for some wintery camping. We actually have both a cabin and a campsite reserved. The cabin will be as a retreat for the cold weather but also for those not brave enough to “give it a shot” camping in the cold.

If we’re lucky, we’ll have some snow, a roaring fire and generalized fun. There may even be some spots that they can sled if the weather is right for it. Remember to pack a sled though if you want to go sledding!

…and yes, we will be doing a bit of pre-coaching for cold weather camping in January to make sure people understand how to sleep in those conditions.

Parents are always welcome to attend campouts!!! Keep in mind for this one, the cabin really is going to be reserved for the scouts first and foremost, especially as the Cabin is supposed to only house a maximum of 16 scouts.

Note: If that wasn’t clear, Cabin space ***IS LIMITED to 16 people*** – please make sure if your scout is planning on only using the cabin, they sign up early. If we have more than 16 dedicated to the cabin, we’ll have to either cut it off or encourage people to plan on tenting.

Polar Bear Badge Opportunity: The Polar Bear Badge is not an honorary badge. In order to earn this award, the candidate must have tentcamped in the outdoors for 24-hours during which the outdoor temperature stays at 32 degrees fahrenheit or below, and must be under the two-deep leadership of registered adult leaders. Scouts interested would campout for the weekend and be required to stay out of the cabin until dinner time on Saturday.
