Winter Camping 2026
Winter Camping 2026
We’re headed off to wonderful D-Bar-A Scout Ranch for some wintery camping. We actually have a cabin, but encourage scouts to sleep outside in tents. The cabin will be as a retreat for the cold weather but also for those not brave enough to “give it a shot” camping in the cold.If we’re lucky, we’ll have some snow, sledding, a roaring fire and a lot of fun! There is a sledding hill at D-Bar-A, but remember to pack a sled if you want to go sledding! We will be doing a bit of pre-coaching for cold weather camping in January to make sure people understand how to sleep in those conditions.Parents are always welcome to attend campouts!!! Keep in mind for this one, the cabin really is going to be reserved for the scouts first and foremost, especially as the Cabin will have limited capacity.Depending on the cabin, space may be ***LIMITED to 16 people*** – please make sure if your scout is planning on only using the cabin, they sign up early. Cabin will be first come first serve, scouts taking precident over adults.Polar Bear Badge Opportunity: The Polar Bear Badge is not an honorary badge. In order to earn this award, the candidate must have tent camped in the outdoors for 24-hours during which the outdoor temperature stays at 32 degrees Fahrenheit or below, and must be under the two-deep leadership of registered adult leaders. Scouts interested would campout for the weekend and be required to stay out of the cabin until dinner time on Saturday.
